Planning to take the live online NY 5-hour course soon. Do I need a webcam and microphone turned on the entire time for instructor monitoring, or is a smartphone enough to get my MV-278?

I took the live online class from my laptop, and the setup was pretty simple. A stable internet connection, a working webcam, and a microphone were required because the instructor needed to verify attendance throughout the session. I checked https://coreway.nyc/pre-licensing-course before registering, and it explained the technical requirements clearly. A smartphone may work with some providers, but a laptop or desktop usually gives a smoother experience for the full 5-hour class.

That's helpful. I'll use my laptop to avoid any connection issues. It sounds like the webcam is the most important part for attendance checks.

I did the same and had no problems. Testing your camera, microphone, and internet before the class starts can save you a lot of stress later.
