Hey folks,
I've noticed some strange things in Word Online lately. Sometimes when I type certain symbols or paste text from PDFs, Word Online randomly changes fonts, shrinks paragraphs, or inserts blank lines that I can't delete. Even odder, spellcheck will flag perfectly correct words, or hide them entirely until I refresh.
It's not consistent and seems almost... mischievous. Has anyone else experienced these quirky "ghost formatting" issues? Is there a hidden setting causing this, or am I just discovering Word Online's secret personality?
Any insights, hacks, or explanations would be amazing!
Yes, you're not imagining it. It can be quirky with formatting. Most of these issues happen when pasting text from PDFs or websites because hidden styles and codes come along with it. That can change fonts, paragraph spacing, or add blank lines. Spellcheck glitches sometimes occur too, especially during collaborative editing or on different browsers. Using Word Online (https://www.wps.com/feature/word-online/) carefully can help, for example by pasting as plain text, clearing all formatting, and using a consistent document template. Also, refreshing the page usually resets the spellcheck. It's not a ghost, just overzealous formatting behavior.
