Title: Should I get the iPhone 18 Pro or wait for the 18 Pro next year?

After doing some digging and analysing the actual upgrades instead of the hype, I've been wracking my brain over this as well since Apple officially announced the iPhone 18 Pro (https://techyassist.net/blog/iphone-18-release-date/) on September 9, 2026. The biggest news is the chip, as the iPhone 18 Pro will be powered by Apple's new A20 Pro chipset, which is said to be 2nm chips with significantly improved efficiency and performance from the previous generation. Add to that the reported 12GB of RAM, and multitasking and other AI-heavy tasks should run quite smoothly. The iPhone 18 Pro might also feature a new variable aperture system, along with an improved 24MP selfie camera, helping to significantly improve low-light performance and depth control — features the previous models lacked. Design-wise, it is unlikely to be a radical departure from the iPhone 17 Pro, but will be very similar with a smaller Dynamic Island. Not this generation, either – there's still a chance for under-display Face ID to find its way into the lineup in the future. However, the most impressive aspect of the iPhone 18 Pro is the software, which includes iOS 27, a completely overhauled Siri, updated parental controls, and AI-powered photo editing features. I made a lot of cross-references on techyassist, which is a very detailed breakdown to help me understand what is confirmed and what is still just rumour at this stage. Is the upgrade worth while? For those upgrading from an iPhone 15 or higher, the iPhone 18 Pro is a significant upgrade. The enhancements are more incremental if you're an iPhone 17 Pro owner, and will depend on how important camera and chipset upgrades are to you.
